Welcome to Metcalfe St. Andrew's United Church Sunday School
Sunday School begins the Sunday following Labour Day and ends the last Sunday of June. Classes are held during the regular church service which starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m.
Under the leadership of Nelda Isaac, our Sunday School is held downstairs in the church hall following the children’s story time conducted by our minister, Rev. Anne Montgomery, at the beginning of the worship service.
The children learn Bible stories and participate in crafts, and/or activity sheets, which are related to the storytime lesson, the “One Room Sunday School” curriculum, or “Theme Day” activities such as Thanksgiving, Valentines’ Day, Christmas, etc.
We are fortunate when youth, and adult, helpers are available to assist during Sunday School. Children of all ages are welcome at St. Andrew’s and helpers are essential to provide the much needed assistance with the age-appropriate activities. In the past, we have helped several local high school students gain the required credits necessary for their graduation by volunteering in the community.
This year a nursery room is being set up for babies and toddlers. A playroom is also available.
A “Pumpkin Carving and Movie Night” has been a highly popular pre-Halloween event for the children. They also take part in a Christmas presentation held during the worship service on the second or third Sunday in Advent. A Church/Sunday School Picnic is held on the second Sunday of June each year.
Baptism for children and adults is available, as well as confirmation for those wishing to join the church. Those individuals who have been baptized elsewhere will find their baptism respected and may join the church by an affirmation of faith.
